Privacy policy

Last updated: 1 July 2026

CarMetric is currently in Public Beta. The service, and this policy, may evolve as the product matures. We will publish a new "Last updated" date whenever material changes are made.

1. Introduction

This policy explains what personal data CarMetric collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to keep this document short and readable rather than filled with legal jargon.

2. Who operates CarMetric

CarMetric is operated by [Legal entity name] (company no. [00000000], if applicable), registered office [address]. Contact: support@carmetric.co.uk.

3. Personal data we collect

  • Account email address and sign-in method.
  • Vehicle details you enter (make, model, trim, mileage, asking price, condition notes, etc.).
  • AI buying reports we generate on your behalf so we can show them back to you.
  • Saved vehicles in your Garage and items you place in Compare.
  • Payment records for any purchases (Stripe returns a reference and status only).
  • Basic technical logs (e.g. request timestamps) needed to operate the service securely.

4. How we use your data

  • To provide the service — generate reports, save your vehicles, and track your plan.
  • To operate authentication and prevent abuse (rate limits, security checks).
  • To process payments and honour your subscription or credit balance.
  • To respond to support requests.
  • To improve the accuracy and reliability of the service.

5. What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not share your data with advertisers or ad networks.
  • We do not display your account information to other users.
  • We do not store payment card numbers — Stripe handles them directly.

6. Third-party services we rely on

To deliver CarMetric we use a small number of trusted providers:

  • Authentication & database: a managed backend provider hosts your account and report data.
  • Payments: Stripe processes all card payments and subscriptions.
  • Report generation: as of the last-updated date above, AI buying reports are produced by CarMetric's own deterministic reasoning engine running on our infrastructure. The vehicle details you enter are not sent to any third-party AI provider and are not used to train external AI models. If we introduce a third-party AI provider in future, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date before doing so.

These providers each act under their own privacy policies and industry-standard security controls.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Export a copy of your data.
  • Delete your account and associated data.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@carmetric.co.uk from the address on your account and we will action the request within a reasonable timeframe.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls on our database, and secure password storage handled by our authentication provider. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and you should use a strong, unique password for your account.

9. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data, except where we are required to keep limited records (e.g. payment receipts) for legal or accounting purposes.

10. Public Beta disclaimer

CarMetric is in Public Beta. Features may change, and reports are decision-support estimates — not a guarantee of a vehicle's condition, value or history. Always inspect a vehicle and seek professional advice before buying.

11. Changes to this policy

When we make material changes, we update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
